From January 2026 every family gets at least 3 days (72 hours/fortnight) of subsidised care — no activity test. "2nd or younger child" gives the higher rate when you have more than one child aged 5 or under in care.

Uses current Services Australia rates for 2025–26: the maximum Child Care Subsidy of 90% for combined family income up to $85,279, reducing by 1 percentage point per $5,000 to 0% at $535,279; the higher rate for a second or younger child aged 5 or under (the standard rate plus 30 percentage points, up to 95%, ending at $367,563); the hourly rate caps of $14.63 (centre-based day care), $13.56 (family day care) and $12.81 (outside school hours care); and the 3-Day Guarantee of at least 72 hours of subsidised care per fortnight (100 with higher activity).
